This workshop will have the lead Pastor of the gay MCC church, a “priest” from the “Old Catholic” gay church, a gay ex-priest from the London diocese. Andrea Houston was at Xtra (she was fired) and is now ” Instructor of Queer Media in the Journalism Program – Ryerson University”
Dr. Murray Watson is a Catholic theologian, and a gay man, who has worked widely with Catholic educators and leaders over the last 20 years, around issues of inclusion, diversity and bridge-building.
Conference participants will be given hands-on tools from educational professionals, lawyers, LGBTQ advocates, and academics to understand and recognize the issues faced by LGBTQ communities. The training will include a focus on supporting LGBTQ youth and educators; working with trans & gender-variant youth; and sharing best practices. Please note there will also be workshops in both French & English, from urban, rural & remote perspectives; and from Public & Catholic perspectives.

The registration fee for this event is only $75. We encourage interested participants to seek funding from their teacher unions, or approach their administrator for money out of their school’s Safe School budget. This opportunity is an amazing chance at increasing one’s professional learning community, and witnessing what other schools across the province are doing to comply to Bill 13.
