#OCSB Director cannot say the word Resurrection for Easter! #catholic #ocsblent #ottnews

1 Cor 15:14

And if Christ be not risen again, then is our preaching vain, and your faith is also vain.

How does one talk about Easter without mentioning the RESURRECTION of CHRIST??  Cultural Catholicism at its worst

Easter is about caring for the planet?? And what parish doesn’t have water in fonts for Lent? A disobedient parish like St Joe’s??

Her greetings reminds us of Justin Trudeau’s Easter greetings which are always about diversity yada yada yada (at least he even mentions Resurrection in passing!)

easter

When I think back to Easter as a young child, I remember with kindness Easter egg hunts, family gatherings, new Spring outfits (usually matching for me and my sisters), even little gifts like skipping ropes and marbles (no doubt to get out outside of the house for a while). It was the day that our Lenten observance came to an end, holy water reappeared in the font at the entrance to our church, the Alleluia was sung once again, and purple vestments and decor gave way to the white of Easter.

While we all have different memories of Easter, we remember what it means to be an Easter people. It’s more than Easter eggs and new Spring outfits, and goes beyond the symbols of our faith. We are called to care for one another, for those who are most in need, and for our planet. We do this daily in our schools. Let’s recommit ourselves, as we journey together in these last three moths of the school year, to be God’s love and spirit at work in our world.

Happy Easter

Justin 2017:

The Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, today issued the following statement on Easter:

“This weekend, millions of Canadians and people around the world will gather with friends and family to celebrate the Easter holiday. This year is special, as Christians in both the Eastern and Western churches are celebrating Easter on the same day.

“Easter, also known as Pascha, is a sacred time of year in the Christian tradition, and celebrates Jesus Christ’s resurrection and triumph over death.

“The Easter story reminds us of the sacrifices made for us, and of the forgiving power of compassion. It is also a call to hope, especially when hope feels most impossible.

“This year, as we celebrate the 150th anniversary of Confederation, let us take the opportunity to honour the many cultures, traditions, and beliefs that make Canada such a wonderful place to live. Christian Canadians of all backgrounds help make Canada the strong, diverse, and inclusive country it is today.

“As we gather with those most important to us, let us put into practice what it truly means to love our neighbours as ourselves, and do what we can to make the world a more just, compassionate, and peaceful place for all.

“On behalf of our family, Sophie and I wish all those celebrating a blessed and joyful Easter. We hope all Canadians, no matter their faith, find this a time of renewal and promise.”
