Will James Martin be clear in new book intro that gay sex acts are of grave depravity? #catholic

Now is the chance for Fr Martin to be perfectly clear that he believes what the Holy Catholic Church believes! Will the book peddler take this opportunity??

Dear friends: Today and tomorrow are good days to reflect on the past year. To that end, New Ways Ministry has posted a list of its “Best Catholic LGBT News Events from 2017,” which highlights the reaction to “Building a Bridge.” So this is also a good time to thank everyone for their support for the ministry of building bridges between the institutional church and LGBT Catholics. Since the book was published, I’ve been overwhelmed by the support and encouragement from LGBT Catholics and their families, from my brother Jesuits, from my Jesuit superiors, and from many church officials–cardinals, archbishops and bishops. At the same time, I’ve benefited from some intelligent critiques of the book, from all quarters, which has helped me think more deeply about the topic. And as for the hateful and homophobic attacks on the book, and sometimes on me, I find now that they bother me hardly at all. That has been a great grace for me.

In March, a revised and expanded version of the book will be published (in paperback), which will include an introduction that responds to the most common questions and critiques and examines the hateful reactions to the book; many new stories (almost parables) from the lives of LGBT Catholics to help embody some of the themes of the book and help us learn; statistics about LGBT violence, suicides and bullying; and a new biblical meditation. In addition, I’ve included all the endorsements from church officials, which might surprise some readers, to remind people that a great many of our church leaders want to build bridges with the LGBT Catholic community.

In other words, thanks. I look forward to continuing the conversation in 2018. And just for fun, here’s a sneak peak of the new cover.

Leslie Lanigan Does your revised edition now address the issues of legitimate Catholic sexual ethics and moral teaching? Or are those topics still, I’m sorry, rather side-stepped?

Fr. James Martin, SJ Yes, it does. Why not order a copy?
CCC 2357 Homosexuality refers to relations between men or between women who experience an exclusive or predominant sexual attraction toward persons of the same sex. It has taken a great variety of forms through the centuries and in different cultures. Its psychological genesis remains largely unexplained. Basing itself on Sacred Scripture, which presents homosexual acts as acts of grave depravity,141 tradition has always declared that “homosexual acts are intrinsically disordered.”142 They are contrary to the natural law. They close the sexual act to the gift of life. They do not proceed from a genuine affective and sexual complementarity. Under no circumstances can they be approved.

#Ottnews . #OCSB @motherteresahs teacher CANNOT cancel final exam

Lots of excitement in the media about this teacher who plans to cancel final exam if there are 75K retweets

The final exam was worth only 15%  and was pitiful preparation for students who will have exams worth 60% or more in university. Cancelling an exam is doing a big disservice to the kids!

Ministry and Board policies state that Assessment rules cannot be changed after the Course Outline has been published and signed by parents and students. They cannot even be changed by agreement of all the students and the teacher!

My understanding is that an official complaint has been lodged with the Ministry. As well, universities might not recognize the credit and they might be unsure of the validity of the marks.

PS: It is easy to buy retweets. Each student could spend $30 to buy 1000 retweets (2 hrs work at McDonalds). Retweeting is NOT learning

#OCSB and the Crisis of Character . #ottnews #oecta #catholicteachers

There is now good evidence that the character strength of self-control, or self-regulation,  which is a sub-virtue of temperance, is more important than IQ as a predictor of academic performance. Indeed, self-control has been found to be a long-term predictor of what is termed  “a flourishing life.
……. later…
This psychology culminated in so-called “Values Clarification”—an approach widely adopted in our schools, where it was absorbed by millions of students. Values Clarification asked each student to choose his or her own values, whatever they might be, to think about them, and then to act on them. Values Clarification rejected the teaching of virtue as “indoctrination,” while at the same time indoctrinating each student with moral relativism
In contrast, government schools are permeated with  “values clarification” and Kohlbergian  ethics:

Does #OCSB think it has high standards? #ottnews #oecta #ottschools

This is from Grade 5 and 6!!

REALLY? Can you PLEASE raise your standards and think about this AGAIN? Life is A LONG journey when you cannot spell or print!

Too much time spent on gender ideology, robotics play, “student voice” and all the other gimmickry play. This is what you call “21 century learning”??

Rapid Onset Gender Dysphoria #ottnews #ocsb #catholic

Parents should know about groups of girls who, in clusters, getting ROGD. For example, we read of a single grade in a school where 6 girls came out as “trans boys”. IMPOSSIBLE!

The following case is about a woman who was banned from a support group at CHEO/Family Services. I am sure teachers and school boards are not helping this poor mother and child either.

Needless to say, this blog does not support any abuse of people with Gender Identity Disorder or Gender Dysphoria (DSM V)

“cheering when they heard our Children’s Hospital was about to start offering mastectomies to children under the age of 18.”

Rapid Onset Gender Dsyphoria

Parents not infrequently report their children experiencing a rapid onset of gender dysphoia which appears for the first time in their daughters during or after puberty.  In our clinical experience, these daughters previously identified with their femininity, enjoyed playing with dolls and had secure attachment relationships with each parent. However, the history revealed that these females often did not have a best female friend or a close group of female friends.

In a 2017 study of 164 adolescents with rapid onset gender dysphoria, 93% were females with average age of 15 when they announced that they were transgender.  Contrary to early research findings, arent-child relationships were worse in 75.7% of the families two years after the announcement. Where popularity status was known, 64.2% of adolescents had an increase in popularity within the friend group after announcing that they were transgender.  In these youth 37.3% received online advice that parents who didn’t agree with their taking hormones were abusive and transphobic and 46.5% of youth withdrew from their families. Also, in this study, 53.1% of youth only trusted information about gender dysphoria from transgender sources. Parents reported a worsening in the mental health in 51.2% of their children and an improvement in 13.6% two years after announcement.

The author recommended the need for more research to understand this phenomenon and the worsening mental well-being and parent-child relationship.(5)

#OCSB tries to sneak in HUGE executive pay raises in late Dec. #ottnews #onted #ottschools

The public consultation is during the busy month of December and ends during Xmas holidays. SNEAKY!!

Doctors have had either pay cuts of wage freeze for many many years now. These doctors work weekend, nights, Christmas week, summer etc etc etc.

All these “associate directors” and superintendents who just wander around from school to school for photo ops etc want 5% or more raises!!!!

Don’t tell me that Ontario (with its HUGE deficit) is underfunding education. These huge exec raises and taking away the possibility of special ed teachers, air conditioning for some schools, etc etc etc

Tell me ONE OCSB exec that has left the OCSB for the private sector. NONE! None of them could get such a high paying job with pay, benefits, vacation and pension.

Average raises for taxpayers are averaging around 2%, not in excess of 5%. And these pay increases may be “revisited” when teachers and principals get more raises from Wynne (as they always d0)

Paying a Superintendent $194K (with a pension of 70%) is obscene. This is a social justice issue!

OCSB Executive Compensation Framework Dec 2017
