#OCSB and Gay “Graphic Novels”

Why are children in Grade 6 reading cartoon books (so-called GNs – graphic novels). the book is at a Grade 2-3 reading level!

This book is about twins who both claim to be gay. And another with questionable sexuality (bi?). One of the boys dresses as a girl and kisses another boy.

This was apparently taught last year at St Isidore. Don’t think that “sex ed” is only taught as part of Religion class or Phys Ed. The whole EIE (equity and inclusive education) means that anti-Catholic things are taught across the entire curriculum.

“Our first title to discuss from the YALSA Hub Reading Challenge is Raina Telgemeier’s Drama. Drama has been singled out as one of the Great Graphic Novels for Teens Top Ten for 2013, and was also selected as aStonewall Book Award Honor book.

As a refresher, the Great Graphic Novels for Teens Selection list showcases titles “recommended for those ages 12-18, meet the criteria of both good quality literature and appealing reading for teens,” and every year they also select the top ten titles from their longer list.  The Stonewall Book Award selects titles “honored for exceptional merit relating to the gay/lesbian/bisexual/transgender experience.”
